5 Steps to Read the Lungora Supplement Facts Panel

By the Lungora Editorial Desk at Lungoraformula · Medically reviewed by Dr. Assad Oskuei, MD, Pulmonologist & intensivist · Reviewed · Last updated · how we check facts

A label looks dull until you know where to look. This walk-through takes the Lungora panel one row at a time.

Quick answer: The Lungora label has two rows. Magnesium (as Magnesium Glycinate from proprietary blend) is 80 mg, or 19% of the Daily Value. A Proprietary Blend of 575 mg then names six ingredients, five with no printed amount. One capsule is a serving, and a bottle holds 30.

Step 1: What are the serving size and the servings per container?

Begin at the top, because everything below it is "per serving". The serving is one capsule. The container holds 30 servings. With one capsule a day, a bottle is 30 days of product.

That sounds trivial, but it is the base for every sum on this page. The 80 mg and the 575 mg are both amounts inside one capsule, not amounts for the whole bottle. The whole bottle holds 30 times as much.

Step 2: What does the magnesium row tell you?

The first row reads Magnesium (as Magnesium Glycinate from proprietary blend), 80 mg, 19%. Three facts sit in that one line.

First, the amount: 80 mg of elemental magnesium, the metal itself, not the weight of the compound. Second, the form: it comes from magnesium glycinate. Third, the phrase "from proprietary blend". The FDA did not require those words. They tell you that the magnesium is drawn from the blend below, which is what makes the later sums possible.

The 19% is right. The FDA Daily Value for magnesium is 420 mg, and 80 divided by 420 is 19%. The NIH upper limit for magnesium from supplements is 350 mg for adults, so 80 mg is well under it.

Step 3: How do you read the 575 mg proprietary blend?

A blend lists several ingredients under one total. The total here is 575 mg. The names come in this order: magnesium glycinate, alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom root extract, L-carnitine, turmeric rhizome extract with 95% curcuminoids, and coenzyme Q10 as ubiquinone.

The FDA labeling guide says a blend must show its total weight and its ingredients in descending order of predominance by weight. So the first name is the heaviest and the last name is the lightest. Magnesium glycinate comes first. Coenzyme Q10 comes last.

Five of the six names carry no amount. That is allowed. It also means you cannot tell how much alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom, L-carnitine, turmeric extract or coenzyme Q10 you get. The amounts are not published.

Key facts

  • Serving size: 1 capsule. Servings per container: 30.
  • Magnesium (as Magnesium Glycinate from proprietary blend): 80 mg, 19% Daily Value.
  • Proprietary Blend: 575 mg, with no Daily Value established (shown by a dagger).
  • The blend names magnesium glycinate, alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom root extract, L-carnitine, turmeric rhizome extract and coenzyme Q10.
  • Other ingredients: hypromellose (vegetable capsule), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, stearic acid, silicon dioxide.
  • Directions: As a dietary supplement, take one capsule daily.

Step 4: What do the dagger and the footnote mean?

The footnote says that percent Daily Values are based on a 2,000 calorie diet, and that a Daily Value is not established for the blend. The dagger next to 575 mg points to that second line.

In plain words, there is no official Daily Value for the blend as a whole, so no percentage is shown. Only magnesium has one, because magnesium has an established Daily Value. This is also why the FDA rule makes magnesium appear on its own row.

One question is left open by the label. It does not state outright whether the 80 mg of magnesium sits inside the 575 mg or is added to it. The words "from proprietary blend" point to inside, and this site's sums assume inside. If you want certainty, ask the seller.

Step 5: What do other ingredients, cautions and storage add?

Under the panel come the extras. Other ingredients are hypromellose, which is the vegetable capsule shell, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, stearic acid and silicon dioxide. Magnesium stearate and stearic acid can be made from plant or animal fat, and the label does not say which. So the vegetarian mark cannot be checked from the label.

The caution reads: do not exceed the recommended dose; not for use for those under the age of 18 or pregnant or nursing mothers; consult with a physician prior to use, especially if you are taking a medication or have a medical condition. Storage is a cool, dry place below 30°C (86°F). The bottle also says to keep it out of reach of children and not to use it if the safety seal is damaged or missing.

That caution block is good, and the law did not require all of it. What it leaves out is any word about breathing problems or specific interactions. Those are covered on the safety page.

What does the panel leave out?

  • The weight of five of the six ingredients.
  • Which kind of magnesium glycinate is used. Pure and buffered forms differ in how much magnesium they hold by weight.
  • An allergen statement. None is printed.
  • A best-before date. It was not legible on the images supplied.
  • The maker, the country of manufacture and any testing laboratory.

A print code along the edge of the artwork is a production code for the label file. It is not an ingredient and not a claim.

Frequently asked questions

What is on the Lungora Supplement Facts panel?

Two rows. Magnesium at 80 mg (19% Daily Value), and a Proprietary Blend of 575 mg that names six ingredients. Serving size is 1 capsule, with 30 servings per container.

Why does the blend list no amounts for most ingredients?

The FDA allows a blend to show a total weight and list its ingredients in descending order by weight. Only ingredients with a Daily Value need their own row, which is why magnesium has one.

What does the dagger mean on the label?

It points to the footnote: Daily Value not established. The 575 mg blend has no official Daily Value, so no percentage is printed for it.

Is the 19% Daily Value correct?

Yes. The FDA Daily Value for magnesium is 420 mg, and 80 divided by 420 is 19%.

Is Lungora vegetarian?

The mark is shown, but it cannot be checked. Magnesium stearate and stearic acid can come from plants or animals, and the label does not say which.

Where can I see the label itself?

The flat label artwork and the panel are shown on the Lungora label facts page of this site. The bottle photographs supplied carry misprinted text, so they are not shown.

Our view

The Lungora panel is more open than many. It names every ingredient, gives plant parts for the two botanicals, shows a standardisation for the turmeric and prints the magnesium on its own row. That earns credit.

But a panel that names six ingredients and sizes one of them tells you less than it seems to. With five amounts missing, you cannot judge the formula by the label alone. Use the panel to ask better questions, and talk to a doctor or pharmacist if you take any medicine.
